This piece is a large , more than 1 m – 38 inch diameter double headed – or powwow drum. Powwow drums are traditional Native American ceremonial tools. They are sacred because they bring together tribes and people. The hardest part of this job was to find the appropriate, strong and high quality skins for the frame. Finally i found a cow hide and a large old deer hide for the task. I have spent many hours for planning the drum and several days for collecting the materials (skins, leathers, colour pigments, paints and other fabrics) that will hopefully result in a beautiful, aesthetic instrument, which carries the power of ‘fire element’.
